Storage limitation

Personal Identifiable Information (PII) can't be stored for an indefinite period. You need to define the retention period in line with the purposes of the processing. After the data has been used for its given purpose, it should be deleted or anonymous.

Steps to comply with storage limitation

  • Implement retention periods in line with the Dynatrace offering
  • Offer configurable settings to select specific retention periods
  • Implement a process to comply with an individual request for the erasure of specific PII

To support customers in complying with the principle of storage limitation, Dynatrace automatically deletes data older than the configured retention periods and also provides adaptive data retention to increase or decrease data retention time periodically. As customers rely on their selected retention periods, consider implementing configurable options in the app to ensure that data isn't stored longer than the defined period.
